The ITER Business Forum is taking place at Marseille’s Palais du Pharo form March 25 to 27, 2015. The event targets those businesses already involved in the ITER project and those who would like to be. The event’s program includes an industry conference, B2B meetings and visits to industrial sites in the region. To date, 764 participants and 366 companies have registered for the forum.
The project’s major partners, the ITER Organization, Fusion for Energy (F4E), national agencies and their main suppliers, will be present to report on the work’s progress. Bernard Bigot, ITER Organization CEO, and Jérôme Pamela, director of the ITER France Agency, will be on hand to answer questions from representatives of the press on the economic dynamic ITER is generating.
At the press conference, Provence Promotion will be conferring the Invest in Provence label on two foreign companies, Kepco and Amec Faster Wheeler Nuclear, that recently set up in the region in order to be closer to their key principals and participate fully in the future nuclear fusion industry. More than €6.5 bn has already been invested in this vast energy-sector project, with more than 40 nationalities involved.
This previously unseen level of international cooperation manifests itself in all aspects of the construction work, from the infrastructure right through to the Tokamak itself, with its many thousands of individual components. The ITER Business Forum will provide companies with information on opportunities for new tender work while reiterating procurement procedures. Each year, around a hundred contracts are signed for work to be carried out on the site.
