Provence Promotion will be attending the SITL (International Transport and Logistics Week) show as an exhibitor in partnership with the PACA Logistics Cluster under the banner Via Marseille Fos on stand M54. This year, from March 31 to April 2, 500 exhibitors will be presenting innovative products and services alongside key players in the fields of commercial real-estate and information systems as well as local government departments and organizations (regions, facilities, competitive clusters…). The event, known throughout the world, each year attracts a huge number of transport and logistics users, providing Provence Promotion and its partners with a pool of appropriate potential contacts.
Castorama, which has just leased a 113,000-sq. m. logistics center at Saint-Martin de Crau, and Tempo One, which will soon be starting European distribution of Havaianas footwear from Fos sur Mer, are two prime examples of the Marseille-Provence region’s attractiveness for the logistics sector.
In attracting this type of investment, the region has much more than just its ideal strategic location at the heart of the Euro-Mediterranean trading zone to offer. Since the port reforms were implemented, the GPMM (Port of Marseille-Fos Authority) has seen considerable change. Today, it has the equipment and facilities to cater for the needs of these large-sized logistics centers. The development locations are today finalized -Clésud, St-Martin de Crau, Distriport, Feuillane, Parc de la Crau- and interconnected, with further facilities in the pipeline that will allow for the massification of traffic flows.
Starting May 11, 2015, a daily rail shuttle service will link Marseille’s Eastern and Western Docks with the Clésud multimodal terminal at Miramas, further streamlining the positioning of containers, the numbers of which increased by 7% in 2014. This new sea-rail-road multimodal offer is expected to attract many new customers.
Provence Promotion, which will be presenting all the advantages the Bouches-du-Rhône has to offer the logistics industry at SITL 2015, has set itself the target of attracting decision-making centers and so-called “white-collar” service-industry players. The aim is to increase the local offer in terms of advanced logistics and innovative services to provide even more added-value to French and foreign companies intending to use Provence as a bridgehead for their business expansion.
One Spanish company that recently set up in Provence, Transcoma Global Logistics, is being honored at the show with the presentation of the Invest in Provence Award. In organizing this celebration, Provence Promotion, which convinced the company to set up its head office in Marseille, are welcoming it into a community of investors and entrepreneurs that have committed themselves to the region.
