With 255 km of coastline, the maritime industry in Provence plays a predominant role. It is a historic pillar of the economy, a sector that employs 61,000 people in the Bouches-du-Rhône.
The Port of Marseilles Fos, which is number one in France and number two in the Mediterranean, is a real engine of growth for companies; industrial, logistics, engineering, offshore, yachting and ship repair activities are highly developed there.
This strong identity provides the ideal framework for the two organizers of Euromaritime, the Marin Ouest-France and the Groupement des Industries de Construction et Activités navales (Gican), created to promote the development of the French maritime industry. For 3 days, Marseille will be the meeting place for maritime professionals.
Blue Growth will be at the centre of discussions with a major part of round tables and conferences focusing on energy transition, the environment and marine ecology.
For the first time, a SEAnnovation space will highlight the innovative technologies of 17 startups. A whole range of solutions to better preserve the marine ecosystem and make maritime activities more sustainable will be presented, wether they are robotic, digital or use underwater and aerial drones technologies. Among these, 5 Provencal start-ups have been selected: GMPRO, Notilo Plus, Searoutes, Syroco and TUITO.
For their business meetings and to promote the region, Provence Promotion, the Aix-Marseille-Provence Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Port of Marseille Fos, Marseille Gyptis International, the Tourist and Convention Bureau, and the Maritime and River Union (UMF), will be meeting in a common area under the ONE Provence banner. On stand J25, they will present the advantages of the maritime sector in the Aix-Marseille-Provence metropolis, a dynamic ecosystem looking to the future.
Demonstrating the region's attractiveness, the British cruise operator CMV, which has just opened its France headquarters in Marseille, will receive the "Invest in Provence" label on the stand.
Euromaritime will also be the occasion to launch the second edition of the Smart Port Challenge. An initiative supported by the Port of Marseille Fos, the CCI Aix Marseille Provence and Aix-Marseille-University to reveal talents.
Provence Promotion, the metropolitan economic attractiveness agency, assists companies in their investment projects on the maritime sector of the region. It helps them free of charge to identify development opportunities thanks to its knowledge of the area (economic network, major projects, locations, etc.).
