La Ciotat hosts the European Medical Devices Workshop

For the third year running, La Ciotat is hosting the EMDW (European Medical Devices Workshop), an international meeting that brings together professionals from the medical devices sector.

This major European event is organized by Eurobiomed (Biocluster Méditerranée) in partnership with the Université de la Méditerranée and the AP-HM (Marseilles hospitals authority), under the patronage of the European Commission. Seventy personalities from the institutional, political and industrial sectors will be participating in the EMDW 2010 workshops.

Extremely active in promoting the medical devices industry, Provence Promotion is supporting and sponsoring the event, which highlights the emergence locally of a genuine expertise in the field, in particular through the “European Medical Devices Archipelago”, a collaborative project designed to bring together and promote the medical devices and health technologies sectors in the southern Mediterranean region of France.

Other activities aimed at promoting the region’s know-how are being organized by the Bouches-du-Rhône’s economic development agency. Among these is a workshop being held in San Diego, US on December 7 and 8 next, the purpose of which is to identify R&D projects carried by start-ups wishing to set up in our region.
