2019 results on the rise with predominant sectors of activity

In 2019, the investments attracted by Provence Promotion were concentrated in the six sectors of excellence of the Provence economy. The agency highlights the region’s attractiveness to foreign investors. Its 2019 results show how its work helps consolidate sectors of excellence in the Bouches-du-Rhône department.

In recent weeks, a number of publications have put company location and relocation in the spotlight. Business France’s report on foreign direct investment in France points out that regions mainly attract investment in their sectors of excellence. That phenomenon is particularly noticeable for Provence Promotion, with the businesses it attracts very much in keeping with the local identity.

In several sectors of excellence, such as health and well-being, digital technology, maritime/logistics and aerospace/shipbuilding/mechanical engineering, there was a higher concentration of foreign companies attracted to Provence than to France as a whole in 2019 thanks to Provence Promotion’s efforts (50% to three times higher than the national average, depending on the sector). Provence’s share in job creation is also excellent, particularly in the maritime/logistics sector, where it has been boosted substantially by the successful arrival of Ceva Logistics.

With more than a hundred prospecting missions carried out in France and in ten other countries, Provence Promotion's sector experts will have met with the managers of nearly 800 companies, resulting in a total of 80 French and foreign companies that have chosen to invest in Provence in 2019, generating 1935 direct jobs.

They included Q Core Medical and Turgis & Gaillard.

“Marseille was an obvious choice. The city is a hub for both the sea and air transport of our products. Our decision was guided by the daily direct flights to Tel Aviv, the presence of a large commercial port, not to mention the quality of life”.
Shaul Eitan – COO Q Core Medical

“Provence is a world reference for flight testing, civil helicopter manufacturing, and aerospace thanks to Airbus Helicopters and Thales Alenia Space. We have set up our AA’ROK design office in Istres to be closer to Dassault Aviation and Safran, but also with the goal of developing a complete production center. We want to increase our business in aeronautics. Our subsidiary in the Istres is going to increase its turnover from €1 million to €5 million within five years while tripling its workforce to 30 people. We are recruiting experienced engineers and technicians. Our ten-year objective for our design office is to have €15 million in turnover and 100 employees”.
Patrick Gaillard – Director General – Turgis & Gaillard Industrie
